About the Individual

- The individual has Autism and challenging behaviours \n
- They no longer attend college (finished in July 2024) \n
- They need support to:\n

- Access the community \n
- Build social skills \n
- Improve communication skills \n
- Stay active and healthy \n
\n
They enjoy being active, going for walks, running in the park, and spending time outdoors.
\nPurpose of the Role
\nTo provide safe, calm, and consistent support that helps the individual:

- Access the community \n
- Develop social and communication skills \n
- Stay active \n
- Feel supported and understood \n
Main Duties
\nCommunity Support
\n- \n
- Support access to community activities \n
- Encourage walking, park visits, and outdoor activities \n
- Support attendance at activities suited to interests \n
Social and Communication Support
\n- \n
- Help develop social interaction skills \n
- Support communication in a clear and patient way \n
- Encourage positive relationships with others \n
Emotional and Behavioural Support
\n- \n
- Support during periods of challenging behaviour \n
- Use calm, consistent, and positive approaches \n
- Help the individual feel safe and understood \n
Family Awareness
\n- \n
- Understand that family is very important \n
- Be aware that siblings also have additional needs \n
- Support the individual when they want one-to-one attention \n
Safety and Wellbeing
\n- \n
- Keep the individual safe at all times \n
- Follow care plans and risk assessments \n
- Report any concerns to the team \n
Skills and Experience
\nEssential

- Experience supporting people with Autism \n
- Understanding of challenging behaviour \n
- Calm, patient, and reliable \n
- Good communication skills \n
- Able to work 1:1 \n

- Knowledge of positive behaviour support \n
- Experience with community-based support \n
