Bookkeeper / Accounts AssistantLocation: East London | Hybrid WorkingPosition: Permanent We're delighted to be supporting a growing accountancy practice in the search for an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join their expanding team. Working alongside a team of accountants and business advisors, you'll support a diverse portfolio of clients operating across the creative industries, including sectors such as design, fashion, advertising, media, film and entertainment.This is a varied, client-facing role offering the opportunity to build long-term relationships whilst working across a broad range of businesses. This opportunity would suit somebody who enjoys working closely with clients, thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking to continue developing their career within a modern, forward-thinking practice.Key Responsibilities:\n

- Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients. \n
- Process purchase and sales ledger transactions, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained. \n
- Perform bank, balance sheet and control account reconciliations. \n
- Prepare journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments. \n
- Prepare and submit VAT returns. \n
- Support the preparation of year-end statutory accounts. \n
- Build strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted point of contact for day-to-day finance queries. \n
- Work across a variety of cloud-based accounting systems, maintaining accurate financial data. \n
- Support the wider team with ad hoc accounting projects as required. \n

- Previous experience within an accountancy practice is highly desirable. \n
- A solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and VAT. \n
- Experience using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar accounting software. \n
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working across multiple systems. \n
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work directly with clients. \n
- Organised, proactive and able to manage your own workload effectively. \n
- Positive, personable and collaborative approach to work. \n
- Keen to continue developing your accounting career within a growing practice. \n
- AAT qualified or studying ACCA would be advantageous, but is not essential. \n
