Mechanic

Our client is currently recruiting an experienced Mechanic who will carry out maintenance, repair, and inspection of their fleet, including HGVs, vans, trailers, and plant equipment.

Responsibilities

Ensure that all vehicles and equipment are maintained to a high standard, are roadworthy, and comply with legal, environmental, and company requirements.

Work as part of the workshop team to minimise downtime, support operational continuity, and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment.

Carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on HGVs, vans, trailers, and plant equipment.

Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and to a high standard.

Assist in delivering preventative maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns and downtime.

Prepare vehicles for MOT and other compliance inspections.

Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair requirements as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor.

Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.

Maintain good housekeeping standards within the workshop

Qualifications & Experience

Time-served mechanic or relevant qualification in vehicle maintenance or mechanical engineering.

Experience working on HGVs, commercial vehicles, or plant equipment.

Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs independently.

Good understanding of Health & Safety in a workshop environment.

Ability to complete accurate records and documentation.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Reliable, proactive, and strong work ethic.

Mon - Fri - 45 hours per week
