Reed Education are seeking an experienced and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant for a full-time opportunity in Scunthorpe, starting in September 2026.

\n

This rewarding role involves supporting primary-aged children who have experienced trauma and present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils feel safe, supported and able to engage positively in their education.

Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Deliver tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • \n
  • Assist children in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies.
  • \n
  • Support the delivery of individual learning and behaviour plans.
  • \n
  • Foster positive relationships that help build confidence and trust.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
  • \n
  • Help create a structured, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • \n
Essential Requirements\n
    \n
  • Previous experience supporting primary-aged children with trauma and SEMH needs.
  • \n
  • Good understanding of attachment, emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Calm, patient and adaptable approach.
  • \n
  • Experience within SEN, SEMH, alternative provision or mainstream settings supporting additional needs.
  • \n
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • \n
