Learning Support AssistantLocation: Bexley, South East LondonJob Type: Full-timeSalary: £15.55 - £16.00 per hour
\nWe are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work in collaboration with our Learning Support Coordinator and Learning Inclusion Manager. This role involves providing essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), facilitating their access to learning programmes and college services.
\nDay-to-Day Responsibilities:Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of support managers and curriculum team leaders.Support the development of self-advocacy and independent learning skills of learners.Contribute to the assessment of students’ learning and personal progression, working with relevant staff to develop person-centred support plans.Provide support and assistance to learners for their personal care, safety, and well-being.Anticipate barriers to learning and participation, developing intervention strategies to minimize difficulties.Ensure learners can access and fully utilize college support services and participate productively in college life.Manage and ensure the availability and operational status of specialist equipment and assistive technologies.Assist in the review of learners' progress in line with college policies and ensure individual support plans are updated.Liaise with external agencies such as parents and key workers as necessary.
\nRequired Skills & Qualifications:A good standard of general education.Minimum of Level 2 Maths and English or willingness to work towards and complete.Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.Understanding of safeguarding issues and maintenance of safe learning environments.Experience and/or willingness to assist learners with personal care and mobility.Good communication skills both written and verbal.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Good IT skills.Ability to communicate using MAKATON/BSL/Sign-a-Long is desirable.
