My client well established and well-reputed in the sector and delivers roofing, waterproofing and cladding projects across the UK, working on both new build and refurbishment schemes. They have built a strong reputation for technical support, high-quality workmanship and long-term client relationships

The role

This is a great opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who wants to develop within a specialist contractor environment.

You'll be supporting the commercial team across multiple roofing, cladding and building envelope projects, getting involved in subcontract procurement, valuations, variations, reporting and general commercial administration.

You won't be expected to know everything on day one, but you will need to be organised, commercially aware and keen to learn from experienced QS / commercial management staff.

What you'll be doing

• Supporting the commercial management of roofing and envelope projects
\n
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package administration
\n
• Manage subcontractors' governance process including subcontractor onboarding and compliance processes
\n
• Support the monitoring and evaluation of subcontractors' performance
\n
• Helping prepare valuations and payment applications
\n
• Supporting variation and change control processes
\n
• Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting and commercial updates
\n
• Reviewing subcontractor applications and payment information
\n
• Maintaining project records and commercial documentation
\n
• Liaising with project teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers
\n
• Supporting final account preparation
\n
• Learning how to manage commercial risk across live projects
\n

What my client is looking for

• Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Junior Quantity Surveyor
\n
• Construction industry experience, ideally with a contractor or subcontractor
\n
• Some exposure to roofing, cladding, waterproofing or building envelope projects would be useful
\n
• Good numerical and analytical skills
\n
• Strong attention to detail
\n
• Good communication skills
\n
• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and general commercial systems
\n
• Keen to develop and progress within quantity surveying
\n

The type of person who'll do well

This role would suit someone early in their QS career who wants proper exposure to live projects and the chance to develop within a specialist contractor.

You'll need to be proactive, organised and willing to get stuck into the detail. My client is looking for someone who wants to learn, ask the right questions and build a long-term career in commercial construction.
