Role: Airfield Operations Technician

Location: Boscombe Down

Duration: 3 months

Rate: £22/hour PAYE

Inside IR35: PAYE

Role Purpose

\n
• Support aircraft ground handling and airfield operations activities at MOD Boscombe Down.
\n
• Contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of flying operations in a dynamic aviation environment.
\n
• Provide operational support for aircraft movements and associated airfield activities.
\n

Key Responsibilities

\n
• Aircraft marshalling and ground movement operations.
\n
• Aircraft towing operations.
\n
• Support aircraft arrival and departure activities.
\n
• Operate specialist vehicles including aircraft tugs, sweepers and forklift trucks (where qualified).
\n
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
\n
• Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
\n
• Comply with all aviation safety, airfield operating and company procedures.
\n

Essential Skills & Experience

\n
• Experience in aviation ground operations, aircraft handling, airfield operations or a similar operational environment.
\n
• Knowledge of aircraft marshalling procedures.
\n
• Knowledge of aircraft towing procedures.
\n
• Knowledge of aircraft arrival and departure operations.
\n
• Full UK driving licence and ability to meet CP2 Safe Colour Perception standards (essential requirement for airfield operations duties).
\n
• Ability to work safely in a busy operational airfield environment.
\n
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
\n
• Flexible approach to changing operational demands.
\n

Desirable Skills & Experience

\n
• Previous military or civilian airfield operations experience.
\n
• Fixed wing and/or rotary wing aircraft handling experience.
\n
• Category C (HGV) driving licence.
\n
• Fork Lift Truck licence.
\n
• Human Factors training.
\n
• Knowledge of aviation Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
\n
