Job Description
Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Cleaning Operative on a part-time, permanent basis.
\nReporting to: Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Cleaning)
\nMain purpose of the Cleaning Operative role: To maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all assigned areas, helping to provide a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
\nCleaning Operative General Duties and Responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Assisting with keeping designated areas clean, including hallways, floors, toilets, showers and classrooms as examples. \n
- Using the cleaning equipment and materials to carry out duties safely. This may include diluting and using cleaning chemicals, as instructed following COSHH regulations. \n
- Operating cleaning machinery in accordance with instructions and within Health & Safety guidelines and to keep such machinery in a clean and safe condition, reporting faults to the Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Cleaning). \n
- Carrying out emergency cleaning as required – this may be as a result of accidents or sickness as examples. \n
- Reporting defects, such as faulty plugs or fuses to your supervisor. \n
- Taking appropriate Health & Safety precautions, where necessary, whilst carrying out required duties, thereby ensuring the personal safety of all staff, pupils and visitors. \n
- Responding to any other reasonable management request. \n
Cleaning Operative Person Specification:
\nThe successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
\n- \n
- Physical fitness, encompassing the ability to bend, stretch, lean, reach and carry heavy, awkward items. \n
- Good verbal and written communication skills. \n
- Punctual, reliable and trustworthy. \n
- Good time management skills. \n
- The ability to work both alone and in a team. \n
- A polite, friendly and helpful attitude. \n
- The ability to speak confidently and courteously to parents, pupils and staff at all levels of seniority. \n
- Awareness of health and safety procedures. \n
- The ability to read and understand written instructions. \n
- Some of your work could be physically demanding and involve lifting. You may also need to work at heights using ladders. \n
- In-house cleaning training will be provided to NVQ level 2 standards. \n
Hours of Work:
\nMonday to Friday, 4.00pm to 7.00pm (15 hours per week).
\nRemuneration:
\nThe salary for this role will be £10,530 per annum. This is at the rate of £13.50 per hour.
