An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Technician to join a world-leading scientific and advanced engineering organisation operating one of Europe's most sophisticated large-scale research facilities.The organisation develops and operates highly complex electrical, RF, control, instrumentation and accelerator systems that support cutting-edge scientific research across engineering, materials science, life sciences, environmental science and advanced manufacturing. With a major multi-million-pound upgrade programme underway, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the installation, maintenance and continuous improvement of one of the UK's most technically advanced engineering facilities.This is a hands-on engineering role supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding of specialist electrical systems and infrastructure. Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation of critical engineering systems whilst contributing to major upgrade and development projects.This role would suit an Electrical Technician, Electrical Maintenance Technician, Electrical Fitter, Control Panel Technician or Industrial Electrician looking to work on technically advanced systems within a highly collaborative engineering environment.Main Responsibilities of the Electrical Technician (Didcot):Install, commission and support specialist electrical systems and infrastructure used within complex engineering environmentsCarry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and repair of electrical, control and instrumentation systemsBuild, wire and assemble electrical panels, control racks and associated equipmentSupport installation and commissioning activities for new engineering projects and system upgradesConduct electrical testing, inspection and calibration activities to ensure compliance with relevant standardsPrepare and follow electrical test procedures and engineering documentationAssist engineering and scientific teams with maintenance and upgrade activities across specialist technical systemsProvide technical feedback to support continuous improvement and future system developmentsMaintain accurate engineering records, drawings and maintenance documentationOrder electrical components, consumables, tooling and spare parts as requiredEnsure compliance with electrical safety procedures, engineering standards and quality requirementsRequirements of the Electrical Technician (Didcot):Proven experience within Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance, Electrical Installation or Industrial Electrical environmentsExperience installing, maintaining and fault finding electrical systems and control equipmentAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentationExperience wiring electrical panels, cabinets or industrial control systemsStrong practical fault-finding and diagnostic skillsGood understanding of electrical testing, inspection and commissioning activitiesExcellent communication and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary engineering environmentsExperience within one or more of the following technologies would be advantageous:Industrial electrical systemsElectrical control panelsInstrumentation systemsPLC-controlled equipmentIndustrial automationRF systemsVacuum systemsScientific equipmentManufacturing machineryHigh-reliability engineering environmentsDesirable:NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineExperience working within scientific research, advanced manufacturing or highly regulated engineering environmentsKnowledge of electrical inspection and testing proceduresExperience supporting commissioning and installation projectsUnderstanding of electrical safety regulations and engineering best practiceWorking Pattern & Benefits:Site-based role in Didcot, OxfordshireOpportunity to work on one of the UK's most advanced scientific and engineering facilitiesInvolvement in a major long-term engineering investment programme worth several hundred million poundsExposure to unique electrical, RF and accelerator technologies rarely found elsewhere in industryHighly collaborative multidisciplinary engineering environmentExcellent long-term technical and career development opportunitiesCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageGenerous pension schemeAnnual leave entitlementOngoing technical training and professional developmentTo apply for this Electrical Technician role, please send your CV to Kishan Chandarana:TPBN1_UKTJ
