We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist therapeutic school in Woking, supporting children and young people aged 7-17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional barriers to learning. The Role

As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will support and lead learning across the school, helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. Working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will deliver targeted interventions, lead small group sessions and, when required, deliver lessons in the absence of the class teacher.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and lead learning activities that promote engagement, achievement and positive behaviour.

• Deliver targeted interventions, small group sessions and one-to-one support.
\n
• Lead lessons when required in line with school expectations.
\n
• Support pupils with EHCPs, SEMH needs and additional learning needs.
\n
• Monitor, record and contribute to reporting on pupil progress.
\n
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, families and external professionals.
\n
• Help create a purposeful, positive and inclusive learning environment.
\n
• Promote independence, confidence and positive life choices.
\n
• Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.

About You

We would love to hear from candidates who:

• Hold HLTA status or have significant experience in a comparable role.
\n
• Have experience working with children and young people with SEMH, SEND or complex needs.
\n
• Are confident supporting teaching and leading learning activities.
\n
• Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and families.

• Demonstrate patience, resilience and emotional intelligence.
\n
• Share a commitment to inclusion, therapeutic practice and pupil-centred education.

• Have a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
