\nReed Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant on behalf of a specialist education setting in Doncaster. This is a full-time position starting in September 2026, supporting primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and trauma-related behaviours.
\nThis role would suit a resilient and nurturing individual who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs. \n
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children who may have experienced trauma. \n
- Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour and engagement within the classroom. \n
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to implement support strategies. \n
- Encourage emotional regulation, resilience and positive social interactions. \n
- Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment. \n
- \n
- Experience supporting primary school-aged children with SEMH needs and trauma. \n
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. \n
- Patient, empathetic and resilient approach. \n
- Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain professional boundaries. \n
- Previous experience within an SEMH, SEN, PRU or alternative provision setting is desirable. \n
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one. \n
