Make a meaningful impact supporting elementary-aged students as a Special Education professional in a vibrant school environment near Hartford, CT. This contract role spans from November 1 to December 22, providing key instructional and case management services in a resource room setting during a maternity leave. With a manageable caseload of 10-20 students, you’ll work closely with a committed team to ensure individualized learning goals are met and students make progress both academically and socially.

What you bring:

  • Current certification in Special Education (Connecticut or eligible for reciprocity)
  • Experience working with elementary school students in a resource room or similar setting
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
  • Collaborative nature and excellent communication skills, especially with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Ability to create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment
  • Organizational skills to manage related documentation and scheduling

Your responsibilities:

  • Deliver small group and one-to-one instruction aligned with IEP goals in a resource room setting
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and behavioral strategies
  • Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in meetings with related service providers and parents
  • Support seamless inclusion, adapting materials and strategies to strengthen skill development
  • Communicate regularly and positively with families and colleagues
