A leading pediatric teaching hospital with 359 beds is seeking a skilled pharmacist to support its inpatient pharmacy team in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role is based in North Little Rock, AR, offering a contract-to-hire opportunity starting ASAP for 13 weeks. The hospital is one of the largest pediatric medical providers in the country and the only dedicated pediatric medical center in the state, known for progressive care and advanced facilities.

Schedule:

  • 7 days on, 7 days off
  • Nights, 12-hour shifts
  • Typical hours: Thursday to Wednesday, 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Flexible scheduling options available

Responsibilities:

  • Compound and dispense prescribed medications accurately according to physician instructions.
  • Consult with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient histories, and medication use.
  • Provide patient counseling on medications and dosage instructions.
  • Ensure all pharmacy records are maintained in compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
  • Verify correct dosages based on pediatric patient parameters such as diagnosis, weight, and age.
  • Identify and address drug therapy problems, including allergies, adverse reactions, and therapeutic duplications.
  • Evaluate and suggest cost-effective therapeutic alternatives, including non-formulary drugs.
  • Maintain high standards of medication preparation, labeling, and quality control.
  • Process medication orders efficiently with appropriate prioritization.
  • Serve as a clinical resource in patient care areas, monitor outcomes, and make therapeutic recommendations.
  • Participate in education and training of patients, pharmacy technicians, fellow pharmacists, and students.
  • Conduct drug information activities and assist with drug utilization review.
  • Manage medication ordering and inventory processes as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed pharmacist in Arkansas
  • Minimum 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
  • IV Experience or IV Certification preferred
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred
