Staff Pharmacist - Rillito, AZ
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Staff Pharmacist to work within a 20-bed suburban hospital setting in Rillito, AZ. This role involves ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients across all age groups, hospital staff, and designated areas. The pharmacist will work in compliance with state, federal, DEA laws, TJC standards, and hospital policies to promote optimal medication management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physicians to advise on drug dosing and selection
- Educate nursing staff, patients, and physicians about medication use and safety
- Implement medication safety initiatives and monitor patient profiles to avoid adverse drug reactions
- Prepare IV admixtures, nutritional supplements, and maintain narcotic accountability
- Participate in medication reconciliation and reporting processes
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ hospital pharmacy experience, specifically in a high-acuity acute care environment
- Experience with NICU patients and managing complex cardiac cases such as Impella and ECMO
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards governing hospital pharmacy practice
Schedule:
- Day shifts, Monday through Friday
