Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Valparaiso, IN
Job Description
Make a meaningful impact supporting students with hearing needs in a vibrant educational environment. This contract opportunity provides an engaging experience working with learners from Pre-K through age 21 across 25 buildings near Valparaiso, IN. You'll manage a well-defined caseload of 48 students, including 30 as Teacher of Record (TOR) and 18 as Teacher of Service (TOS), with the chance to provide tailored support for a diverse group of children and young adults.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience with IEP development and case management
- Familiarity with assistive technology for hearing support
- Strong progress monitoring and record-keeping skills
- Ability to collaborate with school teams and families
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students according to IEP requirements
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans
- Provide assistive technology evaluation and ongoing support to students and staff
- Track and document student progress, making data-driven modifications to interventions as needed
- Advocate for student needs and collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support services, and families
- Schedule and deliver services efficiently, including monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, and more frequent sessions based on individual student plans
- Participate in multi-building coordination, ensuring consistent, high-quality services across the program
