Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by contributing your expertise to a middle school special education team. A full-time, onsite position is available for the upcoming academic year: August 26, 2026, through June 11, 2027. Work closely with students with a range of disabilities, supporting their unique educational journeys in a welcoming and collaborative environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Special Education Teacher Certification (required)
- Experience working with middle school students preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and best practices in special education
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and adapt lesson plans for students with various disabilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
- Manage IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and classroom management techniques
- Track and document student progress, adjusting approaches as needed
- Advocate for student needs and foster an atmosphere of respect and encouragement
- Participate in school meetings, staff development, and professional learning communities
