In this role, you'll take charge of a small, self-contained BEST (Behavioral and Emotional Supported Teaching) classroom consisting of 9-10 middle school students in grades 6-8. The program is designed to offer specialized, focused support to students who benefit most from structured behavioral and emotional guidance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Demonstrated experience working with middle school students
- Knowledge or background in behavioral and emotional support strategies
- Ability to foster a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, colleagues, and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to a self-contained classroom (grades 6-8)
- Implement social, emotional, and behavioral interventions tailored to student needs
- Develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with educational staff and related service providers
- Maintain a safe, encouraging classroom atmosphere
