Job Description
Step into an engaging contract opportunity working as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) dedicated to supporting K-12 students. This full-time role is based near Canton, MI, and will run from August through December with the potential to extend into the spring semester. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to help students from elementary through high school optimize their function and participation in the school environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current COTA license in Michigan
- Experience in school-based or healthcare settings with youth populations
- Familiarity with IEP process and implementation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt interventions for a diverse, multi-age caseload
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support implementation of occupational therapy interventions as directed by the supervising OT
- Work closely with students to address fine motor, sensory, and daily living skills essential for classroom success
- Participate in the assessment process and assist with documentation
- Communicate progress with teachers, families, and other school staff
- Contribute to IEP meetings and help develop age-appropriate goals and strategies
- Assist with planning and adapting learning environments to facilitate student engagement
