Job Description
Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Louisville, KY
Duration: 6 months
Shift hours: Hours range would be between 5:00am to 8:00am as a start time for an 8-hour day. Overtime as needed.


MUST HAVE:
  • 5 or more years in a lab using lab equipment such as viscometer, softening point, etc. and/ or quality experience.
  • Attention to detail and display analytical skills.
  • Candidate will be posting formulas in SAP software.
  • Ability to self-direct work and processes.
  • SAP experience.
Job Dimensions:
  • Ensure QC testing is completed per procedures and results are inputted into SAP accurately and within QC time window.
  • Report to management when material issues arise (tested out of specification or process limits) a timely fashion.
  • Actively participate in the NCMR process by inputting data and support investigation activities.
  • Participate as a member of HACCP/GMP/Food Safety Team
Activities:
  • Comply with all laboratory safety requirements and maintain laboratory using good housekeeping practices
  • Practice Safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations
  • Prioritize testing based on customer requirements or R&D needs
  • Properly document and report testing data
  • Sample preparation and management per laboratory procedures
  • Complete necessary calibration, certification, and pre-use processes required
  • Complete required sample testing using lab equipment (Viscometer, Softening Point, Gardner, etc)
  • Manage the nonconforming material process flow (entry, assignment, closure)
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Perform other assigned duties to support Quality Services and other processes
  • Review and report production data
  • Retain management
  • Plant equipment calibration, etc.
  • Attend all HACCP/GMP/Food Safety meeting
  • Conduct GMP and Glass inspections
Context and Environment:
  • The job involves laboratory work that is time critical, without compromise to data integrity.
  • Customers are relying on accurate representation of product and release on time.
Accountabilities:
  • Data Accuracy / verification to ensure only material in specification is released for sale.
  • On time testing to Release Dates
  • Effective Communication when material may not get released on time
  • Managing all Non Conforming Materials
Qualifications:
  • Laboratory experience is required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, with preference given to chemistry, biology, or related fields
  • Basic knowledge of statistics is preferred. Able to learn and understand basic statistics (Control Charting, SPC, Cpk, Cp, Std. Dev)
  • Ability to self direct work and processes
  • Demonstrate strong attention to details and display analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate competency with Microsoft Office suite.
