Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Palatine, IL

Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
• Experience or strong understanding in providing educational services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Ability to work as an itinerant teacher, supporting multiple locations as needed
• Excellent communication skills, including collaborating with staff, families, and students
• Familiarity with assistive listening devices and technology for students with hearing loss
• Commitment to creating inclusive educational environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments within school settings
• Consult and collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to modify curriculum and classroom activities
• Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and monitor ongoing progress
• Provide training and support to staff and families regarding hearing loss, accommodations, and equipment
• Ensure the proper use and functioning of hearing assistive devices
• Advocate for and facilitate accommodations to support student access and participation
