Job Description
Make a positive difference in students’ lives as a part-time Hearing Itinerant, serving learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This flexible, contract position will allow you to share your expertise with local schools near Palatine, IL, collaborating with educational teams to ensure every student has the resources and support they need to thrive.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience or strong understanding in providing educational services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Ability to work as an itinerant teacher, supporting multiple locations as needed
- Excellent communication skills, including collaborating with staff, families, and students
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices and technology for students with hearing loss
- Commitment to creating inclusive educational environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments within school settings
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to modify curriculum and classroom activities
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and monitor ongoing progress
- Provide training and support to staff and families regarding hearing loss, accommodations, and equipment
- Ensure the proper use and functioning of hearing assistive devices
- Advocate for and facilitate accommodations to support student access and participation
