Speech Therapist | Acute care PRN

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing and evaluating patients to create tailored treatment plans that align with their specific conditions. This role involves tracking patient progress, adjusting treatment strategies as necessary, and providing education to patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.

• Patient Age Range: All age groups.
• Educational Requirement: Master’s Degree.
• Essential Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of Speech Language Pathology theories, methodologies, practices, and tools.
  • Strong communication abilities with a proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of potential hazards, necessary precautions, and corrective actions in patient care.
  • Capability to evaluate and implement treatment programs for both simple and complex therapy diagnoses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Licensure and Certifications:
  • Active Florida license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA required upon hiring or transferring into the role, effective March 1, 2018.
• Preferred Experience: Familiarity with Video Swallow Studies, Speaking Valves, Voice Prosthesis, and FEES is advantageous.
• Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
• Required Experience: Less than one year of clinical experience in relevant areas such as acute care, outpatient settings, or skilled nursing facilities. Experience gained during fellowship is applicable.
