This full-time, contract position extends throughout the entire school year and offers two unique opportunities within established educational settings near Long Beach: one opening in a Special Day Class (SDC) environment and another as a Resource Specialist Program (RSP) teacher.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Credential (California)
  • Previous classroom or school-based experience in special education (SDC or RSP highly valued)
  • Strong classroom management and communication abilities
  • Enthusiasm for fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments
  • Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and compliance
  • Team-minded, reliable, and flexible in adapting to changing student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student goals and accommodations
  • Maintain thorough and accurate IEP documentation and communicate progress to parents/guardians and educational teams
  • Modify existing curriculum and collaborate with general education staff to foster inclusion
  • Address a range of learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs within classroom or resource settings
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required
  • Create a safe, nurturing classroom culture where all students are encouraged to succeed
