A direct hire opportunity is available for a Clinical Pharmacist to join a prestigious 359-bed, Level 1 trauma pediatric teaching hospital in Benton, Arkansas. This facility stands as the only pediatric medical center in the state and ranks among the ten largest pediatric healthcare providers nationally. The hospital fosters a fast-paced, team-based environment equipped with state-of-the-art technology, dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
Location: Benton, Arkansas
Schedule: 8-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current Arkansas pharmacist license required
- A minimum of 2 years of inpatient clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- IV experience or IV certification preferred
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) credential preferred
- New graduates with a strong foundation and eagerness to learn are welcome to apply
Key Responsibilities:
- Compound and dispense medications according to physician orders
- Consult with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient histories, and medication usage
- Provide accurate medication and dosage information to patients
- Ensure proper recording and compliance with hospital and regulatory pharmacy standards
- Verify appropriateness of doses based on patient specifics such as diagnosis, weight, and age
- Identify and manage drug therapy problems including allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions
- Evaluate and initiate drug therapy, suggesting cost-effective alternatives when appropriate
- Monitor and assure high-quality preparation and labeling of all drug products
- Process medication orders efficiently with appropriate prioritization
- Actively participate in patient care areas to optimize therapeutic outcomes and collaborate with healthcare providers
- Educate and train patients, pharmacy staff, and students; contribute to discharge planning
- Handle drug information requests, drug utilization review, and compliance assessment activities
- Manage medication orders with wholesalers and manufacturers, including substitutions and inventory coordination
