Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience or training in resource and co-taught ELA classrooms preferred
  • Comfort working with middle school students (8th grade focus)
  • Strong collaboration skills with general education teachers
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and provide accommodations
  • Excellent communication and classroom management abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support for 8th Grade ELA students with diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate closely with general education ELA teachers to plan and implement lessons in both resource and co-taught models
  • Develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure each student’s unique needs are met
  • Monitor student progress, collecting data and making instructional adjustments as needed
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment that encourages student growth and engagement
  • Maintain thorough communication with families, support staff, and administration
  • Participate in professional development, meetings, and team activities
