Special Education Teacher in Plainfield, IL

Exciting opportunity for a passionate Special Education Teacher seeking a rewarding contract role in a supportive middle school environment. This position focuses on serving a middle school caseload, specifically supporting around 15 students as their case manager. The role features co-teaching four sections of English Language Arts, split between two 7th-grade and two 8th-grade classes.

As an integral part of the educational team, you’ll collaborate with general education teachers, provide tailored instruction, and advocate for students’ success. The right candidate will be someone who values inclusive teaching, brings flexibility to the classroom, and excels in fostering student growth.

Ideal candidates will bring:

• A valid LBS1 certification.
• Experience working with middle school students, preferably within ELA settings.
• Proven ability to co-teach and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• Strong case management skills and experience managing IEPs for students with diverse needs.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, positive learning environment.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities include:

• Co-teaching four sections of ELA (two with 7th grade, two with 8th grade).
• Providing differentiated instruction and accommodations in accordance with IEPs.
• Building supportive relationships with students and their families.
• Ongoing case management for approximately 15 special education students.
• Active participation in team meetings and professional development.
