Special Education Teacher - Swanton, VT
Job Description
Make a difference in the lives of young learners by stepping into a full-time Special Education teaching role supporting 3rd and 4th grade students. This contract position begins as soon as possible and runs through June 17, 2027, providing a stable and rewarding opportunity within a vibrant elementary school environment. The classroom is a traditional Special Education setting without intensive needs, and you will have a manageable caseload of approximately 15-20 students.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Vermont Special Education teaching license required.
- Prior experience working as a Special Education Teacher or in related roles is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to instruct, modify curriculum, and create positive, inclusive learning environments.
- Commitment to providing individualized support for diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a caseload of 15–20 students in grades 3 and 4, delivering specially designed instruction to meet their learning needs.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success.
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and provide ongoing feedback.
- Foster a supportive and structured classroom environment.
