A well-established pediatric hospital with 359 beds is seeking a skilled Pharmacist with hospital inpatient and pediatric experience. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment within a state-of-the-art, trauma level 1 teaching hospital specializing in pediatric care. The medication safety and patient care team values pharmacy professionals who help optimize therapeutic outcomes for young patients.
Location:
- Little Rock, AR
Schedule/Hours:
- 7 on / 7 off nights
- 12-hour shifts
- Thursday through Wednesday, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
- Department of pharmacy offers scheduling flexibility
Responsibilities:
- Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by physicians.
- Consult with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient history, and medication use.
- Address patient questions regarding dosage and medications.
- Verify doses based on pediatric considerations such as diagnosis, weight, and age.
- Identify and intervene in drug therapy problems including allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions.
- Evaluate drug selection, initiate therapy when necessary, and suggest cost-effective alternatives.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy data recording, regulatory standards, and hospital procedures.
- Participate in patient care rounds to monitor therapeutic outcomes and provide recommendations.
- Educate and train patients, pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and students.
- Manage medication supply orders, inventory, and backorders efficiently.
- Perform drug information and review drug utilization as part of safety initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in Arkansas
- Minimum 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
- IV experience or IV certification preferred
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) certification preferred
- Prior pediatric hospital experience is highly desirable
