Mail Order Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist in New Berlin, WI
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A 2nd shift pharmacist opportunity is available with a focus on long-term care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy services. This contract-to-hire role offers a dynamic work environment where patient care and medication management are top priorities. The position requires working Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with some Saturdays, for an initial 8-week assignment. There are two openings available.
Responsibilities include:
- Accurately accepting and dispensing prescription medications
- Monitoring patient medication compliance and identifying over-usage patterns
- Ensuring all medication dispensing complies with legal regulations and patient safety standards
- Maintaining confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision
- Providing patient counseling on medication use, side effects, storage, and drug interactions
- Delivering additional patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management
- Educating patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions according to protocol
- Supervising pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, to maintain smooth operations
- Managing pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively
- Collaborating with physicians and healthcare practitioners to resolve drug-related issues
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed Pharmacist in Wisconsin
- Previous pharmacy experience is required
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy is a strong plus
