Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher for a full-time, contract position near Chicago, IL. You’ll be responsible for helping students with a variety of needs reach their full potential in a collaborative and structured environment. This year, there are two dynamic Diverse Learner (DL) positions available, offering a chance to make a significant difference.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement required
  • Previous experience or strong interest working with middle school students
  • Solid understanding of IEP planning, implementation, and compliance
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
  • Flexible and adaptable in supporting a range of learning abilities and behavioral needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction and modify curriculum to support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment conducive to academic and social-emotional growth
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and review IEPs and student progress
  • Partner with parents and caregivers to provide updates and strategies for continued support
  • Foster student advocacy and independence through tailored instructional methods
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in meetings as required
