In this pivotal position, you will participate in the planning, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the Occupational Therapy program and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your expertise will help foster student independence, improve access to learning, and support the diverse needs of the school community.
Ideal candidates will bring:
- A valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate as an Occupational Therapist, or eligibility for credentialing.
- Insight into implicit bias, culturally responsive teaching, and anti-racist practices.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed methodologies and social-emotional/behavioral supports across all tiers (1, 2, and 3).
- A robust understanding of child development and the spectrum of learning styles.
- Experience integrating racial equity and culturally responsive instruction in school-based therapy.
- Strong knowledge of district, state, and federal regulations regarding confidentiality, Special Education, and support for vulnerable populations, such as foster or homeless youth.
- Training in, or a willingness to obtain training for, restraint and aversive interventions, maintaining the highest standards of student safety and dignity.
