Step into a meaningful role where you’ll impact young learners as a Special Education Teacher in an MN classroom designed for K-2 students with significant needs. This contract opportunity is located near Naperville, IL, covering a leave of absence from August 11 to September 23, with a possible extension. The position offers in-person engagement within a self-contained classroom setting, working with a close-knit group of four students. You’ll provide targeted instruction in core subjects while facilitating inclusion experiences as students rotate into general education for parts of their day. Paraprofessional support is in place to aid in delivering individualized instruction.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for Illinois licensure)
  • Experience or training with students who have multiple or significant disabilities
  • Experience designing and implementing IEPs and managing modifications/accommodations
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with families, paraprofessionals, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom community

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction in core academic subjects
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to meet students’ unique learning needs
  • Collaborate with general education staff to support student integration and transitions
  • Supervise and guide paraprofessionals working within the classroom
  • Track student progress, complete required documentation, and participate in IEP meetings as appropriate
  • Foster a safe, encouraging, and structured learning environment
