Special Education Teacher | Pendleton, Indiana

Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a Special Education Teacher, working full-time in a supportive high school environment. This contract position offers an opportunity to create a nurturing classroom for approximately 10 students within a Life Skills program. As you guide learners toward greater independence, you’ll collaborate with dedicated colleagues and become an important part of a caring educational community.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Indiana teaching license in Special Education (present documentation upon application)
• Experience or strong interest in teaching high school students with diverse needs, specifically in Life Skills programs
• Commitment to fostering inclusion and individualized support
• Strong classroom management and communication abilities
• Capacity to build rapport with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and support to high school students within a Life Skills classroom
• Develop, adapt, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet each learner’s goals
• Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting approaches as needed for success
• Work collaboratively with school staff and support personnel to ensure a positive, engaging classroom experience
• Create a safe and welcoming environment focused on helping each student reach their fullest potential
• Maintain accurate records and effective communication with families

Role Details:

• Contract from August 3, 2026, through June 7, 2027
• Full-time schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:20 am–2:30 pm
• Onsite position located at the high school
