Make an impact as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a dynamic, supportive educational setting near Elgin, IL. This itinerant, full-time contract position (37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day) begins August 27, 2026, and runs through June 9, 2027, with potential flexibility for those seeking part-time work. You'll collaborate with students ranging from Pre-K through transition ages, traveling between multiple campuses to deliver and enhance vital vision-related services.

In this role, you will do more than provide direct instruction—you’ll act as a resource leader within the Vision Related Services Department. Your expertise will be instrumental in mentoring, coaching, and training both new and experienced staff. You’ll partner with colleagues and families, advocating for access to resources and best practices for maximizing each student’s learning potential.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with endorsement in teaching students with visual impairments
  • Master’s degree required
  • A minimum of five years of experience in school-based settings
  • Strong leadership skills to support, train, and guide team members
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple sites and grade levels
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, resource-rich environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver vision-related educational services to assigned caseload, covering a variety of ages and needs
  • Support and mentor staff, providing best practice guidance and professional development
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and administrators to address student goals
  • Advocate for necessary resources and solutions for students, staff, and schools
  • Fulfill credentialing requirements, including completion of fingerprinting
