Location: Boardman, Oregon (Travel Role)

Travel: Up to 75%

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking qualified Traveling Field Service Technicians to support a client specializing in power distribution and electrical infrastructure solutions. This individual will be responsible for supporting field installations, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities involving switchgear, power distribution equipment, and electrical control systems at customer locations nationwide.

Their day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending project meetings and coordinating field activities with contractors and customers
  • Installing, modifying, and commissioning electrical and mechanical components
  • Working with switchgear, switchboards, circuit breakers, bus bars, power cabling, and control wiring
  • Performing testing and commissioning of modified assemblies, control panels, and power products
  • Troubleshooting electrical circuits and associated networking equipment
  • Supporting preventative maintenance and field service activities
  • Assisting with equipment upgrades, modifications, and repairs
  • Working closely with technical project managers and manufacturing teams to resolve commissioning and product issues
  • Identifying replacement parts and required field resources for projects
  • Providing technical support during installation and post-installation activities
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Manufacturing environments
    • Data centers
    • Field service organizations
    • Electrical commissioning roles
  • Experience commissioning low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) switchgear
  • Experience with switchgear and electrical control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required
  • Strong team-oriented mindset and troubleshooting abilities

Nice to Have

  • Military experience, particularly in electrical or power-generation fields
  • Data center commissioning or operations experience
  • Experience supporting large-scale electrical infrastructure projects
  • Previous field service experience supporting mission-critical facilities
