Job Description
Embark on a rewarding assignment as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive elementary school environment. This full-time contract position is set in a self-contained K-1 classroom dedicated to students primarily with developmental delays. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference alongside two experienced paraprofessionals, providing both general and adapted curriculum instruction to a small group of engaged learners.
Your classroom will consist of four kindergarteners and five first graders, each deserving individualized attention. You’ll collaborate closely with administrators, service providers, families, and staff to deliver high-quality instruction and support for every student’s unique needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations for each student
- Provide behavioral interventions and create positive behavior support plans
- Foster an inclusive and structured learning atmosphere
- Differentiate instruction across all core academic content areas
- Collaborate actively with school teams and families to maximize student success
- Maintain documentation and compliance for student progress and services
- Guide and support your classroom paras for optimal teamwork
What You’ll Need:
- Valid Georgia Special Education Adapted Curriculum Certification (general and adapted curriculum both welcome)
- Certification in Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies
- Proven experience in writing and implementing IEPs
- Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
- Three reference checks, including one from a recent supervisor
