What we're seeking:
- Valid teaching credentials with a specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Previous classroom experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong understanding of a range of communication modes, including American Sign Language (ASL)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for engaging with students, families, and school teams
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), modify curriculum, and adapt learning materials
- Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Design and deliver tailored instruction to meet the unique needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Assess student progress, track data, and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Partner with general education and special education teachers, speech/language pathologists, and other staff
- Maintain open, proactive communication with families to support student growth
- Advocate for student access, accommodations, and full participation in all school activities
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals
- Create an engaging classroom environment that fosters self-advocacy, independence, and academic achievement
