Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and current knowledge of interpreting techniques
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (State or National preferred)
• Experience interpreting in educational settings with K-12 students
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and professionalism
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents
• Flexibility to adapt to various classroom environments and student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpreting services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in classroom and school-related activities
• Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, educators, and peers
• Support student participation in lessons, discussions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing lesson plans and relevant materials
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) discussions
• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
