In this contract position, you will facilitate meaningful connections between students, teachers, and school staff, ensuring that all students have access to instruction and the broader school community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and current knowledge of interpreting techniques
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (State or National preferred)
- Experience interpreting in educational settings with K-12 students
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and professionalism
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents
- Flexibility to adapt to various classroom environments and student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in classroom and school-related activities
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, educators, and peers
- Support student participation in lessons, discussions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing lesson plans and relevant materials
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) discussions
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
