Insurance Department Manager (Property & Casualty)

Position Overview

A well-established and growing insurance organization is seeking an experienced Department Manager to lead its Property & Casualty operations team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing departmental performance, supporting client service excellence, developing team members, and driving operational effectiveness across the organization.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in commercial insurance operations, proven leadership experience, and a passion for mentoring teams while ensuring exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight for the Property & Casualty department.
  • Establish and maintain departmental goals, performance expectations, and service standards.
  • Ensure operational processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and workflow optimization.
Team Management & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop Account Managers and support staff.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and employee development activities.
  • Conduct performance management discussions and support employee growth initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment focused on client success.
Client Service & Operations
  • Oversee departmental workflows to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Support complex client service needs and provide guidance on escalated matters.
  • Partner with producers, account executives, and leadership teams to ensure seamless client support.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements to enhance customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness.
Business Collaboration
  • Work closely with leadership to support departmental growth and organizational initiatives.
  • Assist with strategic planning and operational decision-making.
  • Support multiple office locations and departmental teams as needed.
  • Promote consistency in service standards and operational procedures across the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Significant Property & Casualty insurance agency, brokerage, or commercial insurance experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management background.
  • Deep understanding of commercial insurance operations and client service best practices.
  • Experience managing workflows, service teams, and operational processes.
  • Demonstrated career progression and professional stability.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with agency management software platforms such as Applied Epic or similar systems.
  • Prior experience leading multi-location teams or regional operations.
  • Industry designations and professional certifications are a plus.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth, succession planning, or team expansion initiatives.
