Unit Information:
- Beds: 17
- Census: Average patients/day:
Minimum Years of Experience required: 3 years' ICU experience
Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- General: sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes w/ TPA, ARF, COVID, DKA
- Surgical: general, open abdominal, ortho (total joints), ENT, OBGYN
- Cardiac/Vascular: fempops, CABG, EVAR, valves, post cath (radial and femoral approach), AAA, amputations
- No complex neuro
Patient Ratios: 1:2, based on acuity
Required License, National Certification, Certs: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
Skills required:
- Vent/trach management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swanz), drains, chest tubes, foley management, post-surgical recovery, post-cath experience, CVVH, CRRT
- Preferred: cardiovascular and CV surgery experience, IABPs, Impellas
Support within the Department:
- CNA 2 during day, 1 at night
- Receptionist/HUC 0700-1930
- Charge nurse with occasional patient assignment
- PM ICU Supervisor Monday Friday
- Phlebotomy for peripheral IV draws
- Educator
- RT 24/7
- Hospitalist 24/7
- Intensivist 24/7
- ICU specific pharmacist for days
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC - preferred
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Pyxis
- Monitors:
Unit specific equipment: NxStage CRRT
Floating: If yes, where:
- Could float within scope of practice and below, including to intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED Boarding (1:4), Observation units (1:4)
- Travelers first to float
Orientation (facility and unit) :
- 1 Day of orientation:
- 0800 meet with educator (badge access, CBLs, login access, etc.)
- Meet and Greet with Nurse Manager
- Remainder of the shift with a preceptor
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other
- On call: No
- Holiday Expectations: 1 per contract
- Approval of RTO: to go through manager
- Shift times: 0700-1930, 1900-0730
- Schedule cycle: made in 4-week increments

- Scrub Color: Any color, no camo, graphics, logos, or designs.
- Parking: Free
- More than 2 sick calls will prompt discussion with traveler and evaluation of contract and possible contract termination
