Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrated experience as a sign language interpreter
- Ability to interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa in real-time
- Certification or relevant credentials in sign language interpreting preferred
- Experience working in a school or educational environment a plus
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpreting services for students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings
- Collaborate with educators to ensure material is accurately conveyed for student understanding
- Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
- Support students’ participation in both academic and social activities within the school community
