Mental Health Associate - Adolescent Behavioral Health

Overview Provides care to individuals with behavioral/emotional/mental health problems. Qualifications Certifications: \n

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
\n

Education: Bachelor's Degree: Social Work, Psychology, Related Field. Comfortable within a Windows OS and learning new applications. Responsibilities ENSURES PATIENTS RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES: Assists the interdisciplinary treatment team in patient assessments and the development of goal directed treatment.\n

• Obtains pertinent information from referral sources seeking patient admission; assists in facilitating admissions
\n
• Completes admission assessments (except for nursing components)
\n
• Ensures compliance with legal components of admissions (voluntary/involuntary admissions, patients' rights, obtaining releases of information, 5-day request for release)
\n
• Maintains sound knowledge base of advanced directives
\n
• Administers/scores assessment scales per protocol
\n
• Participates in interdisciplinary clinical staffing or ensures pertinent information is provided to team
\n
• Develops, reviews, and revises plan of care on assigned patients
\n
• Completes required documentation as appropriate including assessment scales
\n
• Addresses the patient's strengths, impairments and interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes.
\n

THERAPEUTIC ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY FOCUS: Assists in the creation and maintenance of a therapeutic milieu so that the unit is a safe, caring, nurturing, healing, and educative environment.\n

• Sets behavioral limits on patients according to unit policies, individual plan of care and behavior modification plans
\n
• De-escalates patients utilizing CPI techniques
\n
• Participates in application of seclusion/restraints when appropriate; provides monitoring of patients in such situation; completes appropriate documentation, including restriction of rights forms
\n
• Provides supportive care to patients and families.
\n
• Conducts safety rounds
\n
• Assists patients in conflict resolution
\n
• Role models stress management
\n
• Ensures patient safety of unit by following policies/procedures and adhering to unit protocols and national patient safety goals
\n

THERAPEUTIC GROUPS AND INDIVIDUAL THERAPIES: Provides group and individual therapies for all patients as assigned in order to provide comprehensive, quality treatment.\n

• Facilitates educational sessions, structured groups and psychoeducational groups in accordance with the patient's plan of care
\n
• Utilizes a variety of therapeutic models as appropriate to the clinical situation, but primarily has a brief therapy/cognitive behavioral therapy focus
\n
• Ensures the milieu maintains a therapeutic environment
\n
• Incorporates Recovery principles in all therapeutic interventions
\n
• Documents interventions in a succinct and goal directed manner using DAR format
\n
• Recognizes and reports abuse/neglect situations as required by law
\n
• Provides support, sets limits, and/or facilitates learning from the situation when providing situational 1:1 intervention
\n
• Adheres to group rules and scheduled groups start and end on time.
\n
• Follows group content outlines in group manual and individualizes groups to needs of current patient population
\n
• Engages patients to participate of all patients as appropriate in community meetings
\n
• Interacts with parents/significant others to answer programming questions, patient progress, etc.
\n

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT FOCUS: Assists in Performance Improvement activities on unit.\n

• Actively promotes and achieves customer satisfaction (patient, family, departments and physicians)
\n
• Generates ideas for improving processes, treatment, and patient care
\n
• Participates in Root Cause Analyses and assists in development of action plans and implementation of action plans
\n
• Serves on unit-based and hospital-based committees
\n
• Precepts new employees
\n
• Follows through on assignments generated by Program Manager or unit committees
\n
• Volunteers for assignments which are designed to affect needed changes.

Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $22.54per hour - $37.64per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
