A dynamic opportunity is available for a pharmacist with a focus on pediatric hospital care in a state-of-the-art, trauma level 1 teaching facility with 359 beds. This pediatric medical center stands as a leading provider in the nation and is uniquely positioned as the only one of its kind in the state, offering a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a staff committed to progressive healthcare.

Location:

  • Little Rock, AR

Schedule:

  • 8-hour day shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compound and dispense medications according to physician’s instructions.
  • Consult with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient history, and medication use.
  • Respond to patient inquiries about medications and dosages.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records complying with regulatory and hospital procedures.
  • Verify drug appropriateness considering diagnosis, weight, age, and body surface area.
  • Identify and address therapy problems such as allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions.
  • Recommend cost-effective and therapeutically equivalent drug therapies.
  • Evaluate non-formulary drug needs and ensure proper medication administration.
  • Ensure quality preparation and labeling of all medications.
  • Prioritize and process medication orders efficiently.
  • Serve professionally in patient care areas, monitoring therapeutic outcomes.
  • Participate in patient, technician, pharmacist, and student education.
  • Provide accurate drug information and assist in drug utilization reviews.
  • Manage medication orders and inventory coordination.
  • Communicate promptly with pharmacy management regarding supply issues.

Qualifications:

  • Arkansas pharmacist license required.
  • Minimum 2 years inpatient experience preferred.
  • IV experience or IV certification is a plus.
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
