\nThe Greenpoint YMCA is seeking a Yoga Instructor for their My Grown Up & Me Yoga classes. This role focuses on leading interactive, engaging yoga classes designed for toddlers/young children (ages 2-5) and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers.\n
\n
\nKey Responsibilities:\n
\n
\nDesign and deliver safe, fun, dynamic, and effective My Grown Up & Me Yoga classes.\n
\n
\nCreate a welcoming and playful environment that uses movement, storytelling, and mindfulness to foster early motor skill development and strengthen the caregiver-child bond.\n
\n
\nArrive before class starts to allow time to greet all participants and help new participants acclimate.\n
\n
\nWear the designated uniform.\n
\n
\nStart each class with an introduction.\n
\n
\nBe responsible for participant safety; inspect floors, equipment, and supplies, and notify the supervisor of equipment in need of repair and /or the need for more/updated equipment.\n
\n
\nInstruct poses and breathing exercises that are accessible to both young children and adults of varying fitness levels, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all family structures.\n
\n
\nUse appropriate music at a sound level set by the supervisor.\n
\n
\nMaintain awareness of current fitness programs and trends, available through Club Connect.\n
\n
\nMaintain attendance records.\n
\n
\nMaintain required certifications, tracked in Club Connect.\n
\n
\nActively participate in training sessions and designated meetings.\n
\n
\nHave a thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate action in emergency situations.\n
\n
\nAct as a positive ambassador for our youth and family programs, building rapport with families and answering questions about class curriculum or other enrichment offerings.\n
\n
\nDesired Skills & Experience:\n
\n
\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.\n
\n
\nMinimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience teaching children’s fitness, early childhood education, or leading youth enrichment programs (e.g., afterschool programs, day camps).\n
\n
\nValid Yoga Instructor Certification (RYT-200).\n
\n
\nSpecialized training or certification in Children’s Yoga (RCYT) is highly preferred.\n
\n
\nCurrent adult CPR or First Aid certifications.\n
\n
\nCurrent National Group Exercise certifications (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or YMCA).\n
\n
\nKnowledge of Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y and Principles of Member Health & Wellness.\n
\n
\nFoundations of Listen First.\n
\n
\nMust attend the YMCA hospitality training within ninety (90) days of hire.\n
\n
