\nAbout This Position:\n
\n
\nThe Food Service Director plans, directs and coordinates the activities associated with running a single site, stand-alone food service operation in a facility with only one kitchen and less than 1,000 inmates/beds. This position is in charge of the operational and financial responsibilities for the kitchen and supervises an Assistant Food Service Director and/or a team of Food Service Supervisors and/or Cooks who are involved with the preparation, serving and clean-up of food in a secure correctional facility. Other duties as determined by the needs of the business.\n

\nEssential Functions/Core Responsibilities\n
\n
\nSupervise, train, and instruct team members and/or inmates in general food service practices, including the preparation, cooking, and serving of food.\n
\nOversee the appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served according to facility or site plan.\n
\nHires, orients, trains and issues corrective action (when applicable) to team members.\n
\nReview and approve payroll on a bi-weekly basis.\n
\nCoordinate the work flow and assign work to team members.\n
\nEnsure all team members are adequately trained and capable to perform job responsibilities safely.\n
\nCoordinate the work flow and assign work to team members.\n
\nDirects team members to ensure job-related rules, policies, procedures, and security guidelines are enforced.\n
\nResponsible for maintaining accuracy of inventory in advance preparation of planned menu schedule.\n
\nEnsure ordering and all required reports are completed accurately and on time.\n
\nKnows and complies with client’s contractual obligations.\n
\nEnsure food items are stored in a safe and hazard free manner.\n
\nMay plan for special events and functions thru participation in meetings with assigned customer facility operations staff.\n
\nMaintain product service quality standards.\n
\nMaintain a sanitary environment following food service and Health Department codes and regulations.\n
\nMaintain accurate on-site reports of daily and monthly financial, production, and activity.\n
\nResponsible for any state or other inspection of food service operation.\n
\nMay participate in the contract negotiation and renewal process.\n
\nMay perform other duties as assigned.\n
\nWhat You'll Need:\n
\n
\nHigh School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience. Must be at least 18 years of age.\n
\n
\nFive years’ of management or supervisory experience in a food service environment.\n
\nServSafe Certification.\n
\nValid driver's license.\n
\nKnowledge and experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods.\n
\nKnowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports High School Diploma or Equivalent.\n
\nPrior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred.\n
\nValid Driver License.\n
\nAbility to travel up to 75% of the time from your home base account including overnight stays at hotels when needed.\n
