Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting high school students in a Life Skills classroom. This full-time contract position offers the chance to work closely with a group of approximately 10 students, fostering their academic, functional, and social growth in a positive and structured environment. The assignment runs from August 3, 2026, to June 7, 2027, with a consistent schedule of 7:20 am to 2:30 pm, totaling 35 hours each week.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid and active Indiana teaching license in Special Education (please prepare to present verification with your application)
- Experience or demonstrated commitment to working with high school-aged students with diverse abilities
- Strong classroom management and collaborative skills
- Passion for supporting the individual needs of students in a Life Skills setting
- Ability to adapt lessons and strategies to meet varying student needs
- Effective communication and organizational talents
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction and individualized support to a small group of high school students in a Life Skills classroom
- Modify curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate specific learning and developmental needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educators to develop and implement IEPs
- Maintain an encouraging, inclusive, and safe classroom environment
- Communicate progress and strategies with families and wider educational teams
