This opportunity is based in a respected teaching hospital with 359 beds and Level 1 trauma designation, recognized as one of the largest pediatric medical providers in the nation. This contract-to-hire position offers an excellent chance to contribute your inpatient pharmacy expertise in a dynamic setting.

Location: Jacksonville, AR
Schedule: 7 on / 7 off nights, 12-hour shifts (7pm - 7am, Thursday to Wednesday) with flexible scheduling options available
Start: ASAP (13-week contract with potential to convert to permanent)

Responsibilities:

  • Compound and dispense prescribed medications in accordance with physician instructions
  • Consult with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient history, and medication use
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding medication and dosages
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and hospital procedures for pharmacy data management
  • Verify medication appropriateness based on diagnosis, weight, age, and body surface area of pediatric patients
  • Identify and resolve drug therapy issues including allergies and adverse reactions
  • Initiate drug therapy as needed and recommend cost-effective alternatives
  • Evaluate and approve non-formulary drug use
  • Maintain high standards for medication preparation, labeling, and dispensing
  • Serve as a professional resource in patient care areas and monitor therapeutic outcomes
  • Participate in education and training for patients and healthcare staff
  • Manage drug information requests and participate in drug utilization review
  • Coordinate medication ordering, backorders, substitutions, recalls, and inventory management as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Arkansas pharmacist license
  • Minimum 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
  • IV experience or certification preferred
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred
