Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher
- Experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and educational technology for hearing impairments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and school teams
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and deliver effective accommodations
- Assess student needs and progress, maintaining clear, consistent documentation
- Engage with families to ensure alignment of goals and strategies between home and school
- Serve as a valuable resource on deafness and hearing impairments to school staff and the wider school community
