Medical Receptionist
Job Description
Requirements: High School diploma/GED. Graduate of an accredited Medical Office Administration program or at least 6 months of prior experience working as a Medical Receptionist or 1 year of clerical experience. Microsoft Office proficiency.
Job Description:
-Performs all necessary receptionist duties including answering, screening, and routing of phone calls.
-Utilizes (EMR) and/or other systems for check-in/check-out processes including verifying patient demographics, insurance information, obtaining patient signatures on applicable patient forms, and having the patient complete any paperwork associated with the visit. ---Collect any necessary payments and process accordingly. Facilitate patient flow by notifying the provider of patient’s arrival, delays, or backlogs.
-Schedule patient appointments and remind the patients of any necessary documentation that may be required for their appointment.
-Schedules any services or procedures as needed.
-Obtains/retrieves referrals/authorizations/eligibility verification that may be required.
-Keeps office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs and placing orders or advising office manager of items needed.
-Ensures HIPAA guidelines are always followed.
-Provides additional coverage for night hours and weekend, as needed.
- Regularly required to communicate with patients, staff, and medical providers.
