As a full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you’ll create engaging learning experiences and ensure accessibility for students with a range of visual needs. Your expertise will help shape an inclusive environment where every student can thrive both academically and personally.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, or eligibility for certification
- Strong background in designing and modifying curriculum for children with visual impairments
- Experience assessing students and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Proficiency with assistive technology and Braille instruction
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to building an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Adapt and deliver core curriculum content for students with vision impairments
- Conduct ongoing evaluations to determine academic, adaptive, and physical needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to student goals
- Consult regularly with classroom teachers and support staff on modifications
- Provide training and resources to students, families, and colleagues on assistive tools
- Advocate for equitable access and the needs of your students throughout the school community
