Position Overview

As a School-Based Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting students' physical development, mobility, and independence within the educational setting. You will collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary team members to evaluate student needs, develop individualized therapy plans, and help students access their educational environment successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations to assess students' functional mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and motor skills.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student needs and IEP goals.
  • Provide direct physical therapy services in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to promote student success across school environments.
  • Recommend and train staff on adaptive equipment, positioning, mobility strategies, and accessibility accommodations.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and district guidelines.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute recommendations regarding physical therapy services.
  • Educate families and school staff on strategies to support students' physical development and functional independence.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active Georgia Physical Therapist (PT) license.
  • School-based experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
